The Apollo 14 expedition started February 3rd, 2025 and I decided to join up. It's another opportunity to earn Exobiologist Rank and there is an event at each waypoint on Sunday at 1900 hours game time. Commander Yanick, the expedition leader, has been live-streaming the events on YouTube and giving a presentation about different topics related to the Apollo 14 moon mission the expedition is named after.
There are far more commanders participating in this expedition than the previous one I attended, and there is no official fleet carrier. We're expected to jump ourselves to the destination instead of riding along on a fleet carrier even though there are 2 or 3 carriers coming along on different parts of the journey to help out when they can. This is quite different from the last expedition I was on and has added many hours of jumping to my usual play time.
The introduction of the colonization beta last week has also made me want to rush through the waypoints and return to the bubble but I haven't done so yet. It's hard to resist landing and scanning biologicals bit by bit to boost my rank and I've already been rewarded with Elite II so far.
