The excellent Rebel Galaxy and its even better sequel Rebel Galaxy Outlaw from Double Damage Games are arcade space adventure games more in the flavor of space trader games like Elite with a set of story missions added in. The ships fly like the old X-Wing and Tie Fighter games with simple power and speed settings with a selection of weapons. You can trade, do side jobs, hunt pirates, advance the main plot, or just work to add to your bank account to pay for the next upgrade or next ship. The standout is the soundtrack which can be called "dark country". The theme song to the original Rebel Galaxy in the YouTube trailer is far and away my favorite track between both games.

You can nab both of these really good games for a pittance on PC right now in a double pack on Fanatical.com: just $1 for both. I paid quite a bit more for both. I even bought Rebel Galaxy Outlaw when it debuted as an exclusive on the Epic Games Store -- that's how excited I was about it -- and I wasn't disappointed. So if you like space games at all you would be hard pressed to find a better value. Even if you can't get this deal in time, go buy them anyway. They're also available on most consoles.
